Quilling
A few months back, I decided I needed to get into something that would pry me away from my computer for a little while. I was becoming uneasy with how much time I spent sitting in front of a monitor, whether it be at work or surfing the web at home. But then this handy little tool came into my life:

It’s a quilling tool. Basically, quilling is the art of making filigree out of paper. You insert a long strip of paper into the prongs of the quilling tool…

…and then you start twirling until you essentially get a bunch of curled up paper. Then, when you are all twirled-out, you glue your little pieces of paper into fun shapes. Like so:

I stumbled upon quilling at a website that I can’t recall right now (apologies!) and the woman who wrote about it had posted a quilled snowflake tutorial. Not so exciting, I know, but it gave my inner artist (ha!) some exercise.
Here’s a macro shot (because I have a Macro problem):

See those stray bits of paper caused by getting the quilling tool snagged mid-twirl? See how they’re still there? See how I’m not being OCD about editing them out? *closes browser before Photoshop urge takes over*
I know, I know, I lead such an exciting life. Just wait til the next paper crafts installment comes.

Turns out twirling paper’s not all that exciting to watch, but I’ll see what I can do!
[...] Except now that I think about it, I don’t think I’ve talked about any crafting besides quilling. Which probably leads you all to believe that I spend my days twirling bits of construction paper [...]
