Searching for Spring
Since I’m stuck in a 4×4 (and I think that’s being a little generous) cubicle all day with barely a hint of a window in sight for 8 hours straight (if I’m lucky), it’s no joke when I tell you that there is nothing I look forward to more than those first steps outside as I leave the office. That first breath of fresh air is enough to let me shake the workday doldrums and feel like a new person. It’s even better when the weather is cooperating and there’s no wind or precipitation in sight. It’s absolute HEAVEN when the weather was as amazing as it was yesterday. I have had the worst case of S.A.D. lately, and the long, dreary, prolonged winter weather was starting to get to me. But yesterday, when I stepped outside to discover that it was actually warm and sunny and slightly breezy, I could close my eyes, take a deep breath and almost trick myself into believing that Spring was finally here. I wish I could scoop this kind of weather up in jars, store it somewhere safe and accessible, and release a little bit of bright sunshine-y warm goodness whenever the dark winter days started getting on my nerves.
I was happier than I’d been in a while, mostly on account of the gorgeous day we were having. I skipped back home in my heels, a huge grin plastered my face, never once stopping to curse the blisters I was inevitably going to get. Then I sat outside on our fire escape for a while.

I never noticed this until recently, but people spend a lot of time looking forward and to the side as they walk, but they never look up. I can’t tell you how many people walked and drove past me and didn’t even notice I was sitting up there. I felt a little weird, watching as they passed by without the slightest hint that someone was sitting literally right above their heads. Whenever I’m walking around the city, I make it a point to glance skyward every so often, to get a new perspective on my surroundings.
But I digress — here’s another dose of sunshine for you.

I’m feeling toasty warm just thinking about it.
I also took this opportunity to share the sunlight with my tulips (but not with my Money Tree, but that’s a story for another time).

I love sunshine, and I love tulips, and I also love the macro feature of my digital camera.
Alas, Mother Nature giveth and Mother Nature taketh away. Today we were back to dull, dreary, and rainy. Tomorrow there’s a chance of snow?! Stop PMSing, Mama N! For now, at least, I have the warm memory of good weather to come. Hopefully it’ll come sooner than later.
Most people are too focused on their immediate problems. I also like to take a breath once in a while and appreciate life… this was one of the best blog reads in a while. Thank you for asking me not to read it.
[...] Can you tell I have a problem with purple? And purple yarn? Mmmm, purple. I love purple. And yellow tulips. And sunshine. [...]
