I’d Make A Terrible Elephant
I have grown forgetful in my old age (ha!). I seem to recall making a promise to post pictures of a certain trip I was on recently. I was doing well for a few posts until I went off and disappeared for a week. C’est la vie, I suppose. (Putting my French skills to work, holla!)

You see, I suffer from this horrible affliction known as “procrastination”. Perhaps you’ve heard of it? I’m the President and a client of the Procrastination Society, not gonna lie. One of the reasons I wanted to do this blog was to help cure me of this disease. I figure, if people are counting on me to update, then I’ll have no choice but to do it, right? But then I figured, the five of you who actually read this thing probably see me enough in real life to know what’s going on anyway. I’m lame like that. It’s not the real me talking, it’s the procrastination.

Also, do you know how tedious it is to weed through so many photos? I tasked myself with creating an abridged photo album, because I think that making you scroll through 1300+ photos is akin to cruel and unusual punishment. But it’s hard to decide which photos are the best, especially when there are SO MANY of them. How do professional photographers do it? It’s like being asked to pick just one crayon out of the jumbo crayon box. That’s a decision I’m glad I was never forced to make. (Naturally, I’d pick purple. But light purple or dark purple? Perhaps violet? Or lavender? Maybe eggplant? You see my dilemma here.)

The fact of the matter is that there was just so much to see and document on this trip. And while I admit I did go a little snapshot-happy when I was out and about, I can’t say I regret capturing those moments and places and things to remember, even if I’m the only one who understands the context.

So here is a scatterbrained assortment of photos from those two weeks.

They’re mostly in chronological order.

I like that they’re all so varied and that looking at one single picture just falls short of telling you the whole story.

Also, I have so many photos of the mountains. You’d think I’ve never seen one before. Being a city slicker has its disadvantages but it’s not like I’ve never been on a mountainside either. My life’s not all concrete jungles, you know! I also dabble in suburban landscapes. I kid, I kid.

It’s just that I was so taken aback by the beauty of the mountains here. Peaceful and serene. That coupled with the gorgeous nighttime skies we had. On a clear night you could see every single star in the sky. Hell, you could even see the faint white glow of the Milky Way. Of all the places I’ve been to, this was the first where I have seen such a thing. It made me wish my camera had a shutter speed that lasted more than 15 seconds.

I was also amazed at the attention to detail in some of the (interior?) design work of some of the buildings. The tiling in the palaces alone are testament to the immense amount of work, patience, and planning it must have taken to construct something so intricate and beautiful.

And the architecture! Definitely not something to be taken lightly.

Is this thing still on?
Oh, you’re still here. Glad you stuck around. Before I go, I leave you with another picture of the sunset. (I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist.)

Oh! And a link! To the rest of the abridged album! Lucky you, here ya go!
