Fall Has…Fallen

I’ve sort of disappeared into the abyss lately. Friends and family have called to make sure I’m still coming up for air. Fear not! I’m still here — I’ve just been dealing with some things that have kept me from this unfamiliar concept of “having a life”. So yeah, I was somewhat disconnected from the real world for a while there. You can imagine my surprise when I awoke from a full night’s sleep last night, stepped out of my apartment, and discovered hey! autumn is here y’all!

I really needed to be around people, and I had some making up to do with my camera, so I headed to Union Square to check out the farmers market.

Is there any color that exemplifies autumn better than orange? The air even smells more crisp. But that might just be my nose getting used to fresh outdoor air again. Though come to think of it, can Manhattan air really be classified as “fresh”? These are important things to ponder, people!

No joke, I think I counted 8 different types of carrots at this vegetable stand. Random factoid of the day: Did you know that the very first carrots were purple? They’ve been selectively bred over the years to be predominantly orange. The carrots we know today also taste a lot different than their purple predecessors. I clearly need to get out more.

Mmm, apples. Don’t worry, I don’t know any random useless facts about apples. You’re safe. For now. I do know that I bought one of the honeycrisp apples (seen at the bottom of this photo) and it was the size of my head. But it was also quite tasty, so I ate all of it, and I’m not sorry!

Hello, guilty pleasure. This was hard to walk away from (it was so soft!), but I had to tell myself that I still had other unfinished knitting projects waiting for me at home. It’s been a year and that dang scarf refuses to be finished, but I will get it done if it kills me!

E noted that I have acted more like a human being today than I have for a very long time. I’m just trying to cram as much of this into every spare moment I can find. Soon it’ll be time to dive under again, and who knows when I’ll resurface.
