Magazine Bowls

Fashion magazines. I sort of hate them, but I sort of love them at the same time. I used to be certifiably addicted to them, until I stopped denying that I was buying them less for the fashion and more as a way to test whether I “measured up” to celebrity standards. (Women everywhere just let out a collective sigh of understanding.) So here I was, a huge stack of magazines sitting in front of me, and I couldn’t bring myself to throw them out. It’s strange how that happens, isn’t it? Not that I have a packrat problem or anything. *shifty eyes*

Anyway, I was sitting there for a while, trying to think of something to do with this little pile of evilness sitting in the corner of my shelf. And then the crafty urge hit me:

Boom! Magazine bowls.

Just a little bit of glue and patience and I turned something I had absolutely no more use for into something that I could feel accomplished about. Not only that, but I also killed two birds with one stone. Now I had a place to hold all of the random little trinkets I had lying around my room.

That’s my “little bit of Morocco” bowl. Shells from the beach and the heart tile from the ceramics factory.

They’re also very useful for jewelry.

Who would have thunk something so useless could prove to be so cathartic? I know I’ll be making more of these in the days to come. (I did mention my packrat problem, didn’t I?)

  2. LOL, shush! They get answered…eventually!

  3. Wow. How creative! I’d love to read how you made these!

  4. Thanks for the encouragement! I’ll see if I can get around to putting together a step-by-step of how I made these :)
