It was a lot of work, a lot of time, and a lot of effort. I can’t even imagine how nerve-wracking being on the campaign trail must be. And I can’t imagine how much defeat hurts after investing so much of yourself in something. But I do know that history was made last night in our town. And I know that people won’t soon be forgetting the name. Despite everything, I was proud to see you up there.

It was such an odd feeling to have strangers come up to me and say, “You’re Lee’s cousin? I voted for him!” and offer their congratulations to you on the hard work you had done. And to see you standing there with your head held high in the face of it all last night was something to be admired.

And even though I only got 4 hours of sleep last night, and I had to commute over an hour into work this morning, I still can’t find much to complain about because my pride in you has trumped all of that.
